PT Plus Configurator

Getting started

Connecting

There is nothing to press. Plug the RNC USB-UART converter into the phone and the app opens it by itself, then looks for a product.

Three states, always visible on the Home panel: No converter connected, nothing is plugged into the phone. Looking for a product, the converter is open and the app is watching for a product, which is picked up within a second or two of being connected. Connected, a product answered; its settings are read and the live panel starts.

The product must be powered from its own 6 to 24 V supply. The phone never powers the product. An unpowered product is invisible to the app and looks exactly like a wiring fault, so power is always the first thing to check.

First time
Android asks permission to use the converter. Allow it.

Leave the converter in the phone
Swap products on the converter. The app notices a product arriving or leaving by itself.

Reconnect

Closes and reopens the link to the converter without unplugging anything. Use it if the connection ever seems stuck. There is deliberately no Disconnect button: unplugging the converter is how a session ends.

Refresh From Product

Reads every setting from the product again and updates all the fields. Use it if you suspect the app and the product have drifted apart, or after someone else has changed something. Shown only while a product is answering.

Reading a product

Live panel

The dark panel shows what the product is doing right now: whether the valve is open, which program and valve type are active, and the timers counting down.

The counters keep ticking on screen between updates, so a still display does not mean a stalled product. If the product is unplugged or stops answering, the live values are cleared rather than left showing something that is no longer true.

If it goes quiet
Check the Standby Sleep Interval. Anything above 0 pauses the live stream while the product is idle. That is normal, not a fault.

Product summary

Device name, the active program, the valve type and your licence state, read from the connected product.

Product

Device Name

A reference stored in the product and carried into the configuration file, so it is clear which unit this is. Useful for identifying units on site, for example by room or position.

Program

Defines how the device responds when a user presses the switch.

On / Off
First press opens the output, second press closes it. Flow Time is not used in this mode; Security Time is what eventually closes it if nobody does.

Programmed
One press runs the output for Flow Time, then auto-closes.

Programmed On / Off
Runs for Flow Time, and the user can pause and resume within Security Time.

Valve

Valve Type

The type of solenoid valve wired to the device. It determines how the output drives it, so it must match what is actually fitted.

Non-latching
Continuous 6 to 24 V power for as long as the output is active. This is the default.

Latching
A short 12 V pulse to open, and another to close.

Selecting the wrong valve type risks damaging the equipment. Check the fitted solenoid before writing this setting.

Pulse Time

The opening and closing pulse length for a latching solenoid valve. Only applies when Valve Type is Latching. Check the valve's own specification, because a wrong pulse can mean the valve does not switch at all.

Default 50 ms

Timing

Delay In

Detects the initial presence of a user before the piezo activates. In other words, how long a touch must be present before it counts as a press, which is what stops brushes and splashes from triggering the outlet.

Default 20 ms

Delay Out

Delays the output activation after a press. Rarely used, mostly for specific applications such as toilets.

Default 0 ms

Flow Time

Drives the valve for a set duration. Not used in On/Off mode, where the second press closes the output instead.

Default 60 s

Security Time

The maximum time the output can be active. A safety backstop against unintentional operation, and the thing that prevents a flood if an outlet is left running.

Default 60 s

Watch out
Security Time is a hard ceiling. If it is lower than the Flow Time you expect, it cuts the cycle short. When water stops earlier than intended, check these two together.

Product Lock Time

A waiting period between activations, during which the device cannot be triggered again. Useful where people repeatedly press, or to discourage jamming.

Default 0, meaning off

Clean Lock Time

Locks the output during cleaning. Unrelated to user activation, and intended for maintenance only.

Default 0, meaning off

Hygiene flush

Flush Cycle

The interval between automatic flush cycles. Set it to 0 to switch hygiene flushing off entirely.

Default 72 hours

Flush Duration

How long the valve stays open when a flush cycle triggers.

Default 60 s

Flush Type

Standard
The flush runs on a fixed schedule, regardless of use.

Smart
The cycle resets after each user activation, so a flush only runs after a period of inactivity. An outlet in daily use is therefore never flushed unnecessarily.

Flush Delay

The initial delay before the first flush runs after power-on. Setting it deliberately is how a whole block of outlets can be made to flush at a chosen time of day rather than whenever they happen to have been powered up.

Default 12 hours

Why it behaves differently in the app
The product streams this back as a live countdown rather than a stored value, so the app shows the countdown on the Home panel but never writes it into the settings field.

Touch and standby

Sensitivity Level

The force required to activate the PT Plus. The full range is 0 to 3000.

Default 251 recommended, with a safe working range of roughly 200 to 500

Outside roughly 200 to 500, consult RNC before setting a value.

Standby Sleep Interval

0 means no sleep and continuous live updates. 1 to 61 is a sleep interval in seconds: higher values save power but pause the live display while the product is idle.

If the product seems to go silent for about a minute, this is the first setting to check.

Default 0

Writing to a product

Save

Writes only the settings you actually changed, then reads each one back to check it. This is the everyday action for adjusting a product already in service. The button counts your changes, for example Save 3 Changes.

With no product answering the button reads No Product Connected and turns itself back on within a second or two of a product being connected. Your edits are kept either way, so changes can be prepared before plugging in.

Presets

Export saves the current settings to a .ptpreset file, Import loads one back. Presets work with nothing connected, so a profile can be built at a desk and carried to site, or reused across a whole estate. The RNC configuration page on rnctec.com can also produce these files.

Flash Once / Stay Armed

One job, two quantities. Flash Once writes the configuration to the product in front of you. Stay Armed keeps writing it to every product you connect until you stop. Same settings, same verification, either way.

Flash Once

Writes the complete configuration, whether each value changed or not, and reads every one back to verify. Use it when commissioning a product, or when you want certainty that a unit matches a profile exactly.

A green band and a beep mean every setting was written and read back correctly. A failure names the setting that did not verify. With nothing answering on the wire the button is greyed out and reads No Product Connected; it enables itself when a product is connected.

Save or Flash?
Save writes only what changed and is for adjustments. Flash writes everything and is for commissioning.

Configuration To Flash

The set of settings the Flash page writes. It keeps its own copy, so connecting a product cannot change it, which is what makes preparing a job in advance safe.

Three ways to fill it:

File
A preset exported by the app or downloaded from the RNC configuration page. How a customer's settings reach production without retyping.

Product
Copy a product that is already set up correctly. One proven unit becomes the master for a whole run.

Settings Page
Whatever is on the Settings page right now. Needs no product, so a job can be prepared before you leave.

The card names its source, for example From a product, copied at 09:14. Show The Values lists everything that will be written. Clear returns to using the Settings page.

Production

Batch flash (Stay Armed)

For programming many products with the same settings. Leave the converter in the phone and swap products on it.

Fill the configuration, optionally enter how many units are in the run, then arm. Every product connected from then on is read, programmed, verified and confirmed with a beep and a buzz. Plug, beep, unplug, next, with no tapping between units.

While armed, every product you connect is overwritten immediately and without asking. Unplug any customer product before arming.

How you know it is armed
An amber bar sits at the top of every tab with the running count and a STOP button that always works. The screen stays awake for the run.

It stops by itself
When the run count is reached, when you leave the app, after 15 minutes idle, or if the licence stops being valid. It never survives restarting the app.

Careful runs
Tick 'Ask before each product' and the app pauses for a confirmation on every unit instead of flashing immediately.

Batch Session

Every product is read before it is overwritten, and its previous settings are kept here with the time and the result. Restore loads a unit's previous settings back into the app so they can be written back to that product. The list belongs to this session only.

Result Sound

A short double beep for a pass, a longer tone for a failure, and a different tone when a run finishes, so nobody has to watch the screen. Four levels: Off, Soft, Normal and Loud, with test buttons to judge the level at the bench. Off keeps the vibration and the on-screen result. The choice is remembered.

Licensing

Licence

Writing to a product requires an activated licence. Reading, browsing and presets always work without one.

Activate with the code supplied with your order, or start the free trial, one per phone, with the length and the terms shown before anything starts. Internet is needed once; afterwards the app works offline for the whole period.

When it ends
Writing locks and everything else carries on. Products in service are unaffected: they keep running their stored settings.

New phone
Codes are one device each. If a phone is replaced, RNC releases the code so it can be used again.

Data and privacy

The app collects almost nothing and says exactly what it does collect: a device code, app and Android version, phone model, and the approximate city seen by the licence server. No GPS, no contacts, no files, nothing about the buildings or products you configure. The full notice is under More Options, and on rnctec.com.

Export a readable summary of all settings to attach to an email, or copy it to the clipboard.

Send a diagnostic log

Press and hold the version number at the bottom of the Contact page. A short description can be added, and the log goes straight to RNC support. Nothing is stored on the phone, and it only ever happens when you ask for it.
