PTR-PG16 recessed piezo switch, PG16

The PTR-PG16 is a piezo switch with a recessed face, so the activation area is easy and secure to locate, which suits users who work with gloves. It mounts on a PG16 thread with a front diameter of 28 mm, in aluminium 6061 T651 or stainless steel 303, 304 or 316. It is sealed to IP68 and IP69K, rated IK10, and used in food processing, parking meters, sanitary products, pools and spas, clean rooms, oil and gas, and self-service terminals.

Does the switch need to do more than switch?

  • CommunicationUART, SPI, I2C, Modbus, CAN or LIN
  • Logic and functionsProgrammable logic and timing in the switch
  • Self-diagnosticsAnswers a poll to confirm it is fully operational
  • −40 °C to +85 °CSame feel across the range, temperature compensated

Then specify a switch with PT Plus inside.

PT Plus puts an onboard MCU inside any PT switch body from 22 mm. It fits the same panel cutout and looks identical from the front.

PTR-PG16 questions

Can the PTR-PG16 be used with gloves or wet hands?

Yes. The PTR-PG16 datasheet lists activation with gloves and wet hands, and reliable operation with snow and mud. Its recessed surface is designed for applications where users work with gloves.

What thread and front diameter does the PTR-PG16 have?

The PTR-PG16 mounts on a PG16 thread. The drawing gives a front diameter of 28 mm, a 3 mm front flange and a 20 mm body behind it. The datasheet gives a mounting torque of 2.5 Nm.

What output does the PTR-PG16 give?

As standard the PTR-PG16 is a normally open momentary switch that gives a pulse of 125 to 300 ms, depending on force, time and speed. N.C. momentary, prolonged and toggle outputs are options. It switches 0 to 24 V AC/DC at 0.2 A as standard, up to 1 A as an option.
